TV celebs pay tribute to R.K. Laxman!

TV actors talk about the cartoons they loved and liked of the famous cartoonist R.K. Laxman.

As the eminent and most prolific cartoonist R.K. Laxman passes away, we ask actors about his cartoons and one thing they liked about his characters -

Ashiesh Roy
Ashiesh Roy "My favorite cartoon is "Man On the moon project " which is an interesting story about a scientist who introduces the common man to his team saying." This is our man, he can survive without water, food, light, air, shelter.

"My favorite character has to be the common man simply because he was so uncommon."

Upasna Singh "R.K Laxman was a great cartoonist of our country and my favorite. As Amitabh Bachchan is the icon of the Bollywood, Lata Mangeshkar as a singer, Sachin Tendulkar as a cricketer similarly R.K Laxman was an iconic in making cartoon character. I used to love the cartoon he used to make of Politicians and the comments which he used to write were brilliant. It was really shocking and heart breaking news for me that he is no more.

We have grown up watching his cartoons and I can say that the mark which he has set is untouched till now by any other cartoonist. The name and fame which has got, not other cartoonist has got until now."

Alka Kaushal "Cartoons by R.K. Laxman were the regular cartoons that featured in our lives. Back then, first thing that I used to do was open the newspaper and go through his cartoons. Through his cartoons, I have got that common man ideal in me. He has influenced our lives in a lot manner and will always keep influencing us. If you talk about picking one cartoon of his, it is very difficult. All of his cartoons were fantastic."

Maleeka R Ghai - "I think I got connected to him in a very young age; during Malgudi days. That show was his brother's show, where he has drawn cartoons and expressed the characters in the title song. Those are the most strong ones in my mind. I have also loved most of his cartoons expressing day to day common man's issues in a leading newspaper."

R.K. Laxman's cartoons were really thought provoking. His death is indeed a great loss.

One of the saddest deaths in recent times. The man was a genius, voice of the voiceless. A huge loss. But he will live through his cartoons. RIP The Common Man!
