TV Actors’ & Writer’s Association to Sign a MOU to Resolve Issues Regarding Sexual Harassment!

Sexual harassment at workplace has always been a topic of concern and various places take various kinds of measures to avoid it. While some form a community of women’s rights, some sign contracts of understanding. Well, under the recent development, we hear that Screenwriters Association (SWA) and Cine and Television Artists Association (CINTAA) have joined hands to sign a memorandum of understanding to resolve issues regarding sexual harassment. 

While talking to Mumbai Mirror, Sushant Singh, general secretary, CINTAA, talked about the associations that can work more effectively together in the future. “With a lot of members from both CINTAA and SWA turning producers, there are chances of conflict. The idea is for both associations to form joint committees to address complaints. Together, have more power, be respected and feared more.”

Sunil Salgia, general secretary, SWA, added that the MOU will address all violations, be it sexual harassment, copyright, payment or breach of contract. “The idea is to fight and take action. The MOU will compel members to attend hearings or else they couldn’t expect cooperation in case of a personal grievance,” he concluded.

Now that they have started an effective initiative in the TV industry, we hope to see a significant change in the future as well.
