Trolls say that the previous actor played Samar better: Sagar Parekh on the current track of 'Anupamaa'

Star Plus show ‘Anupamaa’ recently witnessed a few major changes in some of the characters of the show. The ideal husband material Anuj Kapadiya walked off from his house blaming his wife while the righteous and supportive Dimpy showed a trace of insecurity and the loving son Samar prioritized his love life as compared to his responsibilities towards his mother.

Shah family is against Samar and Dimpy’s alliance but he is certain to get married to her at any cost. India Forums got in touch with Sagar Parekh, who plays the character of Samar Shah in the show and asked him about the sudden change in the graph of his character and his thoughts on the same.

He said, “Well, one thing that I really love about the makers of ‘Anupamaa’ is that they don’t glorify their characters. They make the characters realistic instead of making them goody to shoes. Like in the real world, characters of the show also goof up sometimes; there is the heat of the moments, and that’s what happened with Samar, Anuj and even Dimpy for that matter. Nobody is perfect, and there’s always a saturation point. I believe more than anything, the current track is all about misunderstanding and people having different perspectives about the situation.”

He added, “Everybody has a trigger point, and even the nicest of people can go wild in order to safeguard anything that they’re extremely passionate about. Samar is certain about getting married to Dimpy, and for that, he is ready to take a stand for himself. Taking a stand for one’s self can never be wrong. The way of doing so can be.”

When asked about his reaction to reading the sudden shift in the character, Sagar said, “As an actor, I have complete faith in the writers. They’re far more researched and knowledgeable and know how to keep the viewers hooked. I’m sure they’ve planned something better for the character in the future. My job is to perform convincingly and that’s what I’m doing. And with the kind of response from the fans, I’m sure that the twist is working in our favour. They’re curious, affected and hooked to the show.”

Talking about the feedback from fans, Sagar said, “There are mean comments but I know that the audiences often confuse reel and real and thus make judgements, so I prefer to avoid them. Since I’ve replaced an actor who played this character before, trolls say that the previous actor was better at playing Samar. There’re comparisons. Some people wrote things like I forgot my mother (Anupamaa) the moment I got my lady love. I believe it’s part and parcel of an actor’s life.”

Ask him about the probable leap in the show, Sagar said, “Well, no one on the sets would know any details about the leap. However, I can assume a little time lapse in the show so that we can start afresh. Things are planned for months but changed in the snap of a finger, and thus it’s very difficult to predict anything in the shows produced by Rajan Shahi.”
