In plight of World Suicide Prevention day today, actress Debina Bonnerjee sheds light on the utmost importance of mental health and how this stigma needs to be tackled!

Debina feels that once people are aware and more accepting of the fact that mental health issues very much cease to exist, only then can they be thoroughly worked upon and cured.

Speaking about her strong thoughts on mental health awareness, Debina shares,"Firstly I strongly feel that people need to accept that mental health issues exist, as only then can they be recognized, treated and worked upon. While people are now talking about mental health openly, the acceptance for it has yet not sunk in and that is where we are lacking behind when it comes to getting help for it.

She added, "Once the person is more aware of their situation and why it is happening, only then can they help themselves through the problem, but if they are not explained as to what is happening and why are they feeling that way, they end up taking such drastic steps like suicide which ideally should not be the case. Total acceptance of mental health is the key to make it better, and when it is understood and accepted is when we all can collectively work on helping people get better through those dark phases"
