Tom Cruise Hires Hand Double for Mission: Impossible 8 – But It’s Not What You Think

Hollywood legend Tom Cruise, celebrated for performing his own gravity-defying stunts, has reportedly taken an unexpected step back during the filming of Mission: Impossible 8. The actor, known for jaw-dropping feats like hanging off planes and skydiving, allegedly hired a hand double for an unexpectedly simple task—flipping a single sheet of paper.

According to a report by The Mirror, the 62-year-old star, who has been tirelessly working on the franchise’s latest installment, needed the assistance to give himself a breather. “Tom is known for doing his own stunts, like hanging off the side of a plane or skydiving. But they had a body double stand in for turning a page. It was to give run-down Tom a break—he’s been working so hard to get the film finished. But I’m not sure how turning a page would have added to that,” revealed a source from the film’s set.

Adding to the intrigue, a video has surfaced of a television host humorously discussing the situation: “He does all his own stunts, right? But in this movie, he’s hired a stunt double. He’s hired a body double to turn a page for him. In this new movie I love. That’s the one thing he will not do.”

Cruise has played the role of Ethan Hunt since the first Mission: Impossible film hit screens in 1996, based on the popular Sixties TV series. The franchise’s upcoming chapter, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, is slated for release on May 23, 2025.

Joining Cruise in the much-anticipated film are Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman, and Greg Tarzan Davis.
