TMC leader Nilanjan Das calls Rupali Ganguly a 'flop soap actress', latter says, 'Your so called..'

Actress Rupali Ganguly and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Nilanjan Das were recently involved in a social media exchange following Ganguly’s criticism of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Ganguly had questioned the chief minister's governance in a post on X (formerly Twitter), which led to a response from Das.

Nilanjan Das, a TMC spokesperson, responded on X, writing: The seniormost stateswoman of India doesn’t need lectures from a flop soap actress. FO!” The statement dismissed Ganguly’s remarks by referencing her profession in the entertainment industry.

Rupali Ganguly replied to Das’s post, stating: Isn’t your so-called ‘senior-most stateswoman’ a public servant, or she’s a dictator who can’t be questioned? But if you’ve already accepted her tyranny instead of her duty to the people, then congratulations on embracing dictatorship. Classic TMC behaviour!

Rupali Ganguly is a television actress best known for her roles in shows such as Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Anupamaa, the latter of which has been one of the highest-rated Indian television dramas in recent years. She has recently used her public platform to voice opinions on political and social matters, including the political climate in West Bengal.

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, is currently serving her third consecutive term since first coming to power in 2011. She is also the founder and leader of the Trinamool Congress, which has been the ruling party in the state since defeating the Left Front government over a decade ago.
