Sony TV's sequel to Pehredaar Piya Ki, Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya was launched last week after a lot of buzz and has managed to get people forget about the controversial original show as it tackles the concept in a completely new way.
However, we asked Rohit Suchanti and Tejasswi Prakash Wayangankar both to enlighten us about why does a grown-up Ratan Singh need a 'Pehredaar' after all.
Considering the male lead was a kid, the need to save him from his family's evil plans was understandable and justified, but now that he is grown-up, does he still need a guard?
To this, Rohit said, "In fact, that's exactly what I thought too. Because now that Ratan is all grown-up, why is Diya still protecting him. I mean of course, I was aware that she was somehow protecting him for the past 12 years, but the need to do the same right now puzzled me too."
He added, "Coming from London, Ratan needs his freedom and is sort of surprised that everywhere he goes, Diya follows him and is surrounded by four bodyguards. However, when he understands that his whole house is planning to get him killed, that is when he realises that whatever she is doing is for a reason and she makes perfect sense. Following this, he will eventually believe and decide to follow her orders too."
Elaborating on the same, Tejasswi said, "I would like to add that if you see the larger picture, it doesn't really matter if he is fit enough to protect himself. Because, in the plot-line, protecting is not only about safeguarding his life physically, but also giving him the mental protection. As he has just come from London, Ratan is not mentally aware and prepared about the kind of risks that he will have to come to terms with and which have to be taken care of. So, it's important for Diya to be around him till he is completely prepared to take over all the responsibilities."
