Taking a leap in a show is not easy: Khyaati Keswani of ‘Kumkum Bhagya’

Khyaati Yash Keswani is currently seen as Pallavi in Zee TV show Kumkum Bhagya. The actress popularly remembered as Sejal Virani from the iconic show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ and is known for featuring in ‘Kehta Hai Dil’, ‘Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki’, ‘Kesar’, ‘Kittie Party’, ‘Nisha Aur Uske Cousins’ among others.

India Forums got in touch with Khyaati and asked her about her association with Balaji Telefilms and Ekta Kapoor. She said, “My association with Balaji Telefilms is nearly two and a half decades old. It reminds me of a mothership to which one returns every now and again. Some of the best work I have done is with Balaji Telefilms and I hope the best is yet to come. When I am not working with Balaji Telefilms, I feel I am not doing enough. I was a part of ‘Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi’ for 7 years, add the 4 years of ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ to it and you’ll see the math. It’s been a long, long association and a very fulfilling one too.”

When asked about her favorite person on the sets of ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, she said, “My favorite person on the KKB set depends on which day you are asking. As we move towards the weekend, Krishna becomes my favorite because of his boundless enthusiasm to party. Mugda is my favorite when we talk about food. Our palates are similar and she makes good food taste better with her conversations. On some days my favorite is Rushad because he has a heart the size of a ship. It’s not possible to not love him. Even my real husband loves my reel husband. Then there is Appy and very aptly her name rhymes with Happy. When she is around no one else can be your favorite.”

Talking about her track that she enjoyed playing in the show, she added, “My favorite track in the show is the journey that Pallavi and Ranbir are on. As mother and son, that journey has been through every corner of love. Good love, possessive love, insecure love, unconditional love, everything a mother and son can feel, we have felt. And since I have a son in real life as well, very often I find I don’t have to act at all. Ranbir’s character has pulled out the best and worst versions of Pallavi and I have experienced emotions I didn’t think I ever would, on a set. It’s all too real.”

When asked about the recent leap in the show, Khyaati said, “Taking a leap in a show is not easy. On a Monday, I am playing a character, on Tuesday, I am expected to play the same character from five years later. But that’s actually a different character because in five years, people change. It takes a lot of adapting, internalizing and quick thinking. But at the end of the day, it’s also a lot of fun.”
