Suresh Raina, Sussane Khan, Singer Guru Randhawa Booked

The Mumbai Police conducted a raid at Mumbai’s Dragonfly club situated in Hotel JW Marriot in Andheri on Tuesday at 2.30am and booked several celebrities for not following COVID-19 guidelines.

Cricketer Suresh Raina, Sussane Khan, Singer Guru Randhawa were among 34 who were booked under section 188 of IPC, Bombay Police Act and Epidemic Disease Act. Sources suggest that rapper Badshah was present at the nightclub too but left from the back gate during the raid. 

A report in Pune Times states that Guru Randhawa and Suresh Raina were arrested for not following the guidelines and are now out on bail. 

Sussanne, Guru and Suresh Raina as well as others were booked under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and provisions of NMDA, reported India Today.

ANI confirmed the same and tweeted, "Police book 34 people including cricketer Suresh Raina & some other celebrities under Section 188, 269, 34 of IPC & provisions of NMDA after a raid at Dragonfly pub for keeping establishment open beyond permissible time limit & not following COVID norms: Mumbai Police."

The official statement issued by the Mumbai Police on this matter reads:

An offence has been registered u/s 188, 269, 34 IPC and u/s 51 NDMA against 34 persons at Sahar police station after raid was conducted at 2.50 AM at Dragonfly pub, for keeping establishment open beyond permissible time limit, not following Covid norms such as social distancing, not wearing face mask.

Reportedly, the Police has taken action against 34 people, including the hotel's staff. Out of those 34 people, 19 were reportedly from Delhi and Punjab. Those not from Mumbai have dashed off to Delhi via an early morning flight.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Maharashtra government announced a night curfew from December 22 to January 5, 2021 in municipal corporation areas as a precautionary measure against spread of Coronavirus.
