He is one of the critically acclaimed actors who has impressed many with his performance in Gangs of Wasseypur, Raman Raghav 2.0, Sacred Games, Manto, and many more. He has come a long way to become one of the most sought-after actors in Bollywood.

Talking with India Forums, the actor recalled the old days when his mom wrote letters to him and added a Shayari in the end which always motivated the actor.

The Manjhi actor said,

"When I first came to Mumbai that time there were no mobile phones instead there were pagers and those were just used locally so my mother wrote letters for me as she knew that i am far from home aur kyunki unko pata tha ki ye definitely pareshan hoga . So at the end of every letter she use to write sher . And that use to inspire me always so once she has wrote, 'Mita de apni hasti ko jo agar kuch martaba chahe k Dana khak mai milke gul-o-gulzar hota hai.'(Annihilate your own Self, if you desire a metamorphosis to occur in your life. Just like the seed, when sown in the soil, disintegrates and merges - to blossom forth)"

He further explained it by saying,

"A seed is so small at first but later it diminishes its own existence in the soil and then blossoms ahead. So reading such things always motivated me and have kept me going ahead in life."
