Strong show and a strong concept need strong actors- Sujoy Wadhwa

The newly launched channel & TV is set to bring its another show Ganga by Sphere Origins about a sensitive topic, Widow Child, on television. The producer of the show, Sunjoy Wadhwa, talks further about the show, its characters and much more with TellyBuzz.

What different things will the viewers get to see from this show?

The entire show in terms of backdrop, treatment, difficulty levels and story progression is totally different from all my shows. The show will bring that aspect of a kid that has not been shown on television before. There will be lot of comparisons done since we have already done a show on child and the show is successful. However, except for the factor about a child as a central character the entire issue will vary.

You are coming up with a second show focused on a child as a central character, how do you relate to them?

The issues we are taking are already happening in the society, be it about child marriage or widow child. It is not something made up; it is the actual fact that persists in our country. This is not at all an easy job because when we pick such topic it is needed to find an entertainment quotient into a situation or a concept that is grim. Also to bring a child oriented show is a very tough job, as not only that you are shooting with a kid but also lot of sensitivity is involved. And lot of other emotional value is there with kid. As the kid is draped in white saree we need to explain her that what widow means and ask her to express in the same manner for which our director is doing a great job.

What made you to take renowned faces over fresh faces in this show?

Strong show and a strong concept need strong actors. This star cast has done other work and has gone through certain phase of life which will make them easily understand the depth of my story. We did not want to experiment with new people as they may or may not be understand the sensitivity. So the focus was to get an experienced and seasoned actors.

Your show will be coming on a new channel & TV so do you have any pressure?

When we launched Balika Vadhu on Colors it was a new channel so this never scared us. Not only this we also launched a show on Sony Pal and Star One so it is kind of a recurring thing for us. I also think good concept and our work counts, be it any channel, rest is not in our hand. So my job to come up with good concept and give 100% to the concept.

Are you planning to come up with any non- fiction show on television?

Yes we are working on 2-3 concepts. Firstly, we want to show pilot around so that the channel could see the difference of what is been going on television and what we we have as we don't want to be generic for non-fiction shows.

What are your future projects?

By the next quarter of the year we are coming up with three new shows. Yes by the end of July if everything goes well then there will be three more shows launched. We have planned to keep a a gap of one month in between the shows. The Pilot stage is done and will soon work for the actual series.
