Playing dhandiya is one of the most awaited moments during
Navrathri. Nine days of dance and music where everybody joins the crowd, putting
aside the fact whether you know or do not know how to play dhandiya.
But as a flip side to the festive moment, what if we get or give a smack on the hand of our partners?. Be it on
purpose or not, the situation always makes one chuckle. Even our stars have gone
through such funny instances and they have their own Navrathri memories.
TellyBuzz had a chat with them and they were more than happy to share it
with us. Just take a look at this!!!
Sanaya Irani: I
used to enjoy dhandiya a lot when I was in school and college as we used to go as a
group and that was fun. And while playing dhandiya hitting people is common and
there was one instance where I purposely hit a guy because he hit me.

Arjun Bijlani: I had an amazing experience when I went to
Kolkata and Guwahati last year during the Navrathri. There was a crowd of
around twenty thousand people to welcome me and it was wonderful to see the
girls shouting my name.
Playing dhandiya is a past experience for me. We used to go in groups and have a
bash. Giving a blow and getting it back were a usual affair while playing dhandiya.
Additi Gupta: For
me the most interesting part during Navrathri is getting ready for the dance
and the excitement to meet boys. As I was from a girl's school, meeting guys
was like having an experience of meeting aliens. We were a gang of girls and
we used pass comments on boys. Playing dhandiya was always a learning space and
having that as an excuse I have hit a lot of people. In return I too have got
blows several times.

Kapil Nirmal: Navrathri
was always a fun filled festival for me and we used to have a lot of fun in
Jaipur while playing dhandiya. We used to play disco dhandiya at our place and it
was very aggressive and eventually we used to end up hitting fellow dancers.
Rati Pandey: During
the festival season I keep vrath and my mother does the 'Kalash Sthapan' and we
do pooja at home. I had played dhandiya five years back and those were the fun
filled moments of the festival. My friend used to teach me how to play dhandiya
and giving a blow on his hand was a habit, but the next instant I used to end up hurting mine.
Abhishek Tewari: Navrathri
has always been great for me. When I was in my hometown I used to go to each
and every temple and my mother used to prepare sweets at home. But I have not played Dhandiya for all these
years as I always get occupied with some or the other work and I never got the
right company to play with. But this year for the first time I played dhandiya
for Star Plus and I enjoyed to the core. Luckily no one was hit and even I
didn't get beaten up by anyone as I was really careful not to hurt anybody.
Ankita Sharma: I
always fast during the festival and I still remember an incident during my
school days when I had gone to a temple where an aunty and I were the only
people there. I don't know what crossed my mind at that moment that made me go
and touch her feet. That was a very unusual incident for me.
Playing dhandiya was always fun and I remember an instance when I had hit a
person on his hand and it was swollen the next moment.
Karan Wahi: Navrathri
has always been fun and three years back I had been to Kolkata where I had a
different experience of Navrathri celebration with Durga Pooja. I have tried
playing dhandiya but I never attempted to play it seriously, as I felt it was
not my cup of tea.
Well, the stars have had their sweet time of life during Navrathri and they wish you all a Very Happy Navrathri.
Jai Mata Di!!!
