Kolkata, Nov 17 (IANS) Sri Lankan filmmaker Vimukthi Jaysundara is all set to make a Bengali film, in order to pay tribute to legendary directors Satyajit Ray and Rithwik Ghatak.

'Yes, I am making a Bengali film with Bengali actress Paoli Dam. You can say it's my tribute to Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak. Today, I stand as a director because of their films. Their films have inspired me in many ways,' Vimukthi Jayasundara said after the screening of his film 'Between Two Worlds' at the 16th Kolkata Film Festival.

The three-film-old director has received international acclaim for his directional and creative skills. His films have made their way to various film festivals across the globe -- including the Cannes Film Festival 2005 and Venice Film Festival.

Vimukthi, known for making movies on the impact of the civil war in Sri Lanka between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lankan Army, has decided to go for a change this time.

He will start his new experiment of making films based on 'character' with a Bengali film. He will shoot the film at various locations of north Kolkata and Rajarhat.

'My movie 'Between Two Worlds' is my last war movie. After this, I will make a couple of movies based on the 'character'.

'In the Bengali film, I will portray a character who is an architect, and stays out of Bengal but comes back to the state after several years,' said Vimukthi.

Vimukthi is yet to start the shooting of the film but is confident that he will be able to present the film to his audiences mid next year.
