'Soorarai Pottru' to be remade in Hindi; Suriya shares details

The trend of remakes continues to be quite prevalent even today. Over the years, we have witnessed how more and more films are being remade from other languages and at times, the remade film goes on to become a bigger success. While there indeed are many, the most recent and popular example can be Kabir Singh - that was not only an official remake of Arjun Reddy but also a much-bigger commercial success.

We have another remake in the works right now where Shahid Kapoor is set to star in the remake of Jersey -  a Naani starrer. And now, another recent success of a film has been confirmed to be remade. Soorarai Pottru, the Suriya starrer was a massive success inspite of having a digital release on Amazon Prime Video. The film, that was directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad will have the same director taking over the Hindi remake as well.

None other than Suriya himself went on to share the same and make the big announcement where he said,  "Excited to announce our  association with @Abundantia_Ent lead by @vikramix for #SooraraiPottru in Hindi, Directed by #SudhaKongara." 

The makers of the film also tweeted, "Thrilled and honoured to announce that we have joined hands with 2D Entertainment to remake the globally acclaimed #SooraraiPottru in Hindi. Extra special that Sudha Kongara, who directed the original, will helm the Hindi film as well! #PraiseTheBrave."-

The original film also starred actors Paresh Rawal and Aparna Balamurali in lead roles with Urvashi, Mohan Babu, and Karunas amongst others in supporting roles. Also, interestingly, Soorarai Pottru is currently the third-highest rated film on IMDb. The film is a story about the life of Simplifly Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath
