'SOCIAL MEDIA' will now decide the 'FATE' of actors!
Judging an actor's capability based on his social media fan following is 'IDIOTIC' - Kanwar Dhillon

We all know that social media is becoming increasingly present in our society. To make big on TV, there were five basic essentials: talent, looks, timing, a winning headshot and a good agent.
For generations, young actors have risen through the ranks of their school drama clubs, local theaters, and cameos before finally cracking in the mainstream acting profession. But these days, those looking to score big need to add another item to the list - A sizeable social media following!
And this was proved when Kanwar Dhillon, the star face of Star Plus' much-awaited show 'Nastik' posted a status on his social media which read:
Armed with this piece of information shared by the actor, we contacted Kanwar who shared, "Somebody from the industry told me about this and if this at all is true, it is very sad to see where and how the industry is progressing. I am there on social media for fun and there are many actors who have a million followers out of which I believe only half of them are genuine. So if one keeps a tap on the follower count for self-satisfactory reasons, it's fine, but judging an actor's capability based on his social media account is uncalled for. There are bigger actors who are not active on social media at all, does that mean they don't get cast for Bollywood films and TV shows?"

It can affect the selection but the followers number is only if the artist is liked for their acting, person. The success of a drama cannot be hinged on popularity only because if the artist does not have the acting chops and charisma...the drama is bound to fail

i completely agree with him..Social media n fake n paid followers can only for self satisfaction but when they will bag a role based on social media popularity but failed in the department of talent social media is not enough coz there comes the real audience, the common people n who will decide the fate of the show n the real star value of an actor..anyways whoever actror/actress doing fake publicity stunts is just selfproclaimed stars coz they cant stand against good actors n eventually will fail to earn genuine recognition n applauses on the way n will fade away from the limelight without leaving any marks in this indusrty with powerful acting..

Common we have seen so many actors n actresses who don't know acting just because of popularity n glamorous avatar n are beautiful n handsome they have reached stardom its not a new thing just that parameter to judge popularity is social media .y wait for the fate of the show to prove them wrong y can't they choose talent as simple as it is . Once upon s time tv actors were chosen seeing mere talent now we can see the kind of acting skills tv actors possess they r following bollywood .

Isn't he true in some way? In Kasam, Shivani was removed cuz people wanted Kratika back. In Qubool Hai, wen Karanveer was abt to be replaced by another actor due to storyline people did not let him to be replaced.

Well, some actors have been in this industry long enough to get 2 lakhs or more in few months!! And all around the world too!! ;D Go take your jealously somewhere else to vent!! :P Get over it!! Besides that not what he meant anyway!! I don't know who got replaced but I agree with him that followers on social media should not be a judging tool to cast someone!!

well channel is not that stupid to replace just based on some fan followers in social media. It the talent thats count Mr.Kunwar. If you cant do justice to your character then definitely kicking out is the best option. Channels run business NOT charity .
