The Bahu of television, Smriti Irani is all set to launch a social comedy show, Maniben.com on SAB TV, based on the popular Gujrathi play of the same name!!
The story is about a simple Gujrathi couple who migrate from their village to Mumbai’s posh Malabar Hills. The show will have all the comic elements and will depict the journey of a woman who accepts all challenges happily.
The title character will be played by Smriti Irani. According to our source, “Eva Grover who was last seen playing a negative character in Waqt will be part of the show. A trimmer looking Natasha Grover, runner-up of Biggest Loser Jeetega who bagged her first television show with Ghar Ek Sapna, plays an aspiring actress in the show. Rakesh Paul who was earlier seen in Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki essays an important role”.
We tried calling Smriti Irani for a confirmation, but she was unavailable.
The show is likely to launch in February 2009.
Smriti's play has been doing very well in Mumbai, Gujrat and also with NRI audiences, and we hope this success translates on TV too!!
