Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the state of West Bengal faced a horrific cyclone ‘Amphan’ on May 20 that caused enormous destruction and deaths. The severe cyclone claimed 86 lives and affected lakhs of people, including damage in Kolkata and surrounding cities.
In these testing times, Shah Rukh Khan’s IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has come forward to extend help to West Bengal hit by the cyclone Amphan by donating funds and essential kits.
KKR has committed to contribute to the West Bengal Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in the aftermath of cyclone Amphan. The franchise has also launched ‘KKR Sahayata Vahan’ that will cater to the affected locations around West Bengal and provide essential kits to the people hit by the cyclone. .”“Ration and essential hygiene items to be distributed to the needy across four most-affected regions -- Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas and East Medinipur
Besides, KKR has also announced to plant 5000 trees that were destroyed in the cyclone. “We must stay strong through these testing times until we can smile together again,” KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan has stated in a message.
“KKR has committed to contribute to the cause. Under KKR’s Plant A 6 initiative, we pledge to work with the authorities and plant 5000 trees in the Kolkata,” a statement from KKR said.
Actress Juhi Chawla shared a statement on her social media that mentions the various initiatives taken up by KKR to help West Bengal battle the aftermath of the Amphan cyclone.
