Rightly said by Shabana ji !! Somewhere , in a remote town, when the loud speakers are put on and children unknowingly not understanding the meaning of the song, would dance and make it more popular amongst the crowd.. These item numbers are like viral.. they go viral even without an internet -social media tools.. Loudspeakers are blown like trumpets in most village occasions like wedding, pujas and many other such engagements..I think the composers and the producers come together with such a thought which is given a shape and then it reaches the masses with top performers of our country.. Its a shame for all of us to be party to this whole idea.. Strict laws should be enforced and the writers and producers should be made accountable.. If Maggi Noodles had to face rough weather due to its ingredient mix, then why cant songs be also censored and taken to court ? The writers, the performers and the music album should be challenged to such an extent tthat they dare produce such content !!

Wat Shabana said is right. Movies sud pay attention to some lines of d lyrics but I have no problems wid d clothes as who does item numbers in full clothes. If men dances showing their body n six-packs then all girls drool over them but wen women does d same they r called naked. Western songs have more vulgar lines. Honestly speaking, if people can't tolerate Hindi item songs then they won't be able be to even watch a single Bhojpuri normal song or Bhojpuri item song. Only Bollywood movies r bashed for item numbers n all. I am not saying dat its wrong but they sud bash even regional film industries. Regional movies like I said Bhojpuri movies have songs n items songs which r 10 times worse than Bollywood movies. But these movies r not bashed since they r regional movies or aisi movies jo gaonwaale dekhte hai. Dis is happening 4m many years. Earlier, I used to watch Bhojpuri movies cuz of my parents but soon my parents stopped watching them as d songs in each n every Bhojpuri movie is very vulgar n cheap. Wonder how village people watch those movies? Since Shabana is also North Indian she sud also raise issue abt Bhojpuri movies other than Bollywood movies. Cuz wats d use of being careful only in Bollywood movies wen more vulgar songs can be seen n heard in Bhojpuri movies by city as well as village people.

Shabana mam .. isn't this is a comment came too late .. Bollywood film is promoting these cheap item-dances from ages. It was still enjoyable during Helen's time but after that, this became pure piece of shit. This is funny how a nude scene goes against our so called culture but songs like "aare preetam pyaare" with its all filthy moves, is acceptable here!! Just imagine the nude scene in Titanic, does it look vulger? NO .. because the entire scene carried some meaning and feelings while these dances are there only to please and endorse perversion.

Shabanaji, you are right. I saw a 3 year old girl in our day care dancing showing the vulgar movements of Kartrina Khaif's item number swaying her tiny upper body. I asked her to stop and explained that I am happy that she is interested in dance but should do good dances but not <br/>bad dances. I also told her mom who herself is a classical bharatanatyam dancer about it. She was surprised and got disconnected the cable net work in her house. So also I agree that item numbers should be discouraged at any cost.

Yeah I think the lyrics of item songs are vulgar and cheap most of the time. It's full of innuendo. I guess that's the point, but it's going too far now. There was a time when you saw an item song and it was not vulgar and cheap. But now the opposite is true. Little kids will listen to these songs and sing them without even knowing what they mean. It's demeaning to women most of the time.

Shabana Azmi is right. If well known actors with a profile will be part of such songs, then it will give it more credibility. They need to clean up the dirt for sure!

Agree on this item songs are turning way to vulgar these days not only songs dresses which they ware in bw as cheap and vulgar small kids watch it no control on that .
Shabnazmi commenting on this is good but what about her she did vulgar movies in the past what does she have to say on that .
