'Scream' Reboot Faces a Shift of Channel; to Debut in July!

And guess what? The original Ghostface mask will be appearing on the series...

Scream

What would our Halloweens or scare pranks be if not for the famous Ghost mask, isn't it? As we all know the mask became so iconic owing to the original film, Scream and the several sequels that followed. However, a reboot of the franchise in the form of a TV series has been in the works for a long time now.

Precisely speaking: three and a half years.

There's finally some good news now as the work is complete and the reboot of Scream called Scream: Resurrection will debut on Monday, July 8th running for two hours per night till July 10th.

But even before it goes on-air, the series has gone through a major development already. Initially set to air on MTV, the series will now debut on VH1. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scream was the last remaining scripted series earmarked for MTV after Teen Wolf wrapped its run a few years ago, though the network previously had announced some development in the space.

The third season of Scream was announced Oct. 14, 2016, with Brett Matthews (The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural) taking over as the drama's third showrunner in as many seasons. The rebooted series also added Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere, and Yaneley  Arty as exec producers on the series, which features an all-new cast, premise and location.

Also new in season three is the actual Ghostface mask, which MTV's Scream had previously been unable to use. Roger Jackson, who voiced the killer in the Scream film franchise, will reprise the role for the VH1 take. This marks the first time the original Ghostface mask will be used on television.

Wes Craven, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad will executive produce the series whereas Matthew Signer and Keith Levine will produce it, with VH1's Maggie Malina and Dana Gotlieb-Carter overseeing the entire cycle.
