Sangita Ghosh on her approach to playing an antagonist onscreen

Actress Sangita Ghosh is all set to make her comeback with the much-awaited show Saajha Sindoor. The new show is set against the majestic backdrop of a royal family in Rajasthan and captures the splendor and traditions of Rajasthani nobility. The show will explore the complexities of relationships and the struggles of women in society, delving into themes of love, betrayal, and societal challenges. Sangita Ghosh will play the role of Saroj, the antagonist of the show. The talented actress recently opened up about her approach to playing an antagonist on screen and the show’s concept.

Revealing her approach, Sangita shared, "When I approach playing an antagonist on screen, I see myself as the heroine of the story. I think that this is my story, and I'm the heroine of it; this is what happened to me and this is my reaction to it. So, only if I'm convinced will I be able to portray it well. I don't see anything as purely negative or positive; I think of the character and portray it like that. Saroj is quite a complex and layered character, and I'm having a great time playing the character of Saroj.”

Talking about the new show and its concept, Sangita said, "Our story includes a love story and saas-bahu drama. Indian shows are typically deeply rooted in culture, and we are creating shows for families, aiming to unite them in watching. With Saajha Sindoor and Sun Neo, our goal is to bring families together without any reservations about enjoying our content together."

The narrative revolves around Phooli (Stuti Goyal), a young woman marked as an "unmarried widow" after her groom passes away on their wedding day. As Phooli navigates the trials of her fate, viewers are left to ponder how destiny will shape her journey and the lives of those around her.

Featuring a stellar cast including Sangita Ghosh, Sahil Uppal, Neelu Vaghela, Krutika Desai, and many others in pivotal roles, the show promises a captivating portrayal of emotions and relationships amidst the grandeur of Rajasthan's aristocracy. The show is all set to air on Sun Neo from June 16th, 2024 from Monday to Saturday at 8 PM.
