Sai Ketan Rao was most affected by ‘Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali’ going off-air: Geeta Tyagi

Star Plus show ‘Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali’ has always been under the scanner. However, the show managed to survive for months but now, the show is set to bid adieu to the viewers. The producer of the show Sandiip Sikcand took to social media recently and announced that the show is slated to go off-air soon. While initially that last con-air date was announced to be 20th November, there’s a buzz that the show has gotten an extension as the makers wanted proper closure to the show.

India Forums got in touch with actress Geeta Tyagi who plays the character of Jaya aka Amma in the show and asked her about her thoughts on the show being axed, she said, “Well, my initial reaction was that the show has potential and shouldn’t have been axed so soon. Having said that, after spending almost around 20 years in showbiz, I’m aware that TV shows are uncertain. Sometimes good content gets axed and mediocre content continues to get chances. I was not much affected and I accepted the decision taken by the makers and the channel”.

Tyagi added, “Sai Ketan Rao (Raghav) was most affected and was really disappointed with the news and was quite sad and would bring the topic of show going off-air multiple times with me. He was clearly upset because he had a very meaty role in the show. While TV is said to be female oriented, the show had a very prominent space for the male lead. Shivangi was also upset but she was taking things in positive stride and smilingly waiting to start new journey”.

Talking about the journey in the show, Geeta said, “It was quite a nice journey. In my career, I have been to outdoor shoot but didn’t stay for long schedules. It was the first time that I was associated with the show that’s shot in another city (Kolhapur). It was a different experience and the producers made sure that we are at our comfort. It has been a great team to work with”.
