Rupali Ganguly is loved by the audience for her character Anupamaa. She recently made headlines when she took a significant step in her ongoing feud with her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, by launching a criminal defamation case against her. This move comes after she filed a ?50 crore defamation suit in the Bombay High Court.

In November 2023, actress Rupali Ganguly, through her lawyer Sana Raees Khan, filed a defamation suit against her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, in the Bombay High Court. The legal action was taken to protect Rupali's integrity and reputation from what Sana described as baseless and malicious allegations.

In a recent ruling, the Bombay High Court granted Rupali ad-interim relief, restraining Esha from sharing defamatory content about her. Sana commented, "This relief ensures that false and damaging content is restrained across all platforms, reaffirming that the law safeguards individuals from unwarranted attacks on their reputation."

The court's order explicitly stated: Until the hearing and final resolution of the suit, defendant No. 1 (Esha) and her agents, representatives, followers, or anyone acting on her behalf is prohibited by an injunction from publishing, sharing, or circulating defamatory, false, slanderous, or libellous statements, posts, videos, tweets, stories, or any such content against the Applicant. This applies to all media, including social media platforms, digital and print media, or other public forums, directly or indirectly.

Additionally, the order bars Esha from using third parties or intermediaries, including unidentified platforms (John Doe platforms), to continue any defamatory or malicious campaign against Rupali. This ruling underscores the legal protection individuals have against reputational harm and highlights the judiciary's commitment to upholding dignity and justice in the face of public defamation.
