Talented actor Abhishek Sharma, who is still remembered as Benji of Miley Jab Hum Tum is back again on-screen to entertain the audience with his comic timings with Deepti Bhatnagar's newly launched silent rom com show Rumm Pumm Po on SAB TV.
Abhishek is playing the lead, Raja on the show and he is quite happy to play this role. TellyBuzz spoke to Abhishek to know more about his association with the show.
How did Rumm Pumm Po happen to you?
Rumm Pumm Po happened as a miracle to me. I have been giving lots of auditions and somebody recommended my name for this show. I gave the audition but it didn't happen and after some days, they called me again for giving an audition and this time it happened.
How is the experience doing a silent comedy show?
It's very different to do because as an actor, I am learning to use my facial expressions more because here we have to do everything with our expressions without opening our mouth which is a challenge. I am learning a lot as an actor. It also requires a lot of physical energy and in fact I got hurt so many times while shooting. I have been hurting myself everyday and I am being called as The Hurt Child' on sets but its fun and I don't feel the pain.
How did you prepare yourself for this show?
We had a lot of workshops and my director and Deepti (Deepti Bhatnagar) mam really helped me a lot during the workshops. I avoided watching Charlie Chaplin or any other silent comedy series because I wanted be myself on the show. I did want to see something and then get influenced by that. The entire cast is so nice and supportive that we don't feel that we are working.
Deepti Mam has really helped me a lot with this and I am really thankful to her for giving me this opportunity. I really want to give credit to Deepti mam for the belief she had in me and supported me throughout. She is like a Godfather to me. She has given me an opportunity to live my dreams by giving me this role to play. It's nice to have somebody as a guardian who believes on you.
How is the off-screen bonding with everyone on sets?
Whenever we get time, we sit in one room and we crack jokes and have lots of fun. We constantly keep having lots of fun and even we are getting scolded, we laugh a lot and have fun. Even if the shoot is hectic, we don't feel it. This kind of environment is actually required especially when we are doing a comedy show.
Most of times, we have seen you in comic roles. Are you ready to do a serious kind of role if offered?
I am not a kind of person who is particular about doing
anything. I love my space. I really like to entertain people in whatever ways I
can whether it's a serious role or a comic role. I just want to give my best
and perform well.
