'RRR' show gets sold out in 98 seconds in Beyond Fest; marks a 'historic' moment

SS Rajamouli's RRR has left western moviegoers speechless throughout its ongoing Oscar campaign. The movie will be shown as part of Beyond Fest's "encoRRRe" on January 9 at the TCL Chinese IMAX theatre, and tickets for the show, which has 932 seats, were completely sold out in just "98 seconds." It was referred to be a "historic" moment for an Indian film on Twitter by Beyond Fest.

Beyond Fest officially tweeted, “It's official and it's historic. @RRRMovie sold out the @ChineseTheatres @IMAX in 98 seconds. There has never been a screening like this of an Indian film before because there has never been a film like RRR before. Thank you @ssrajamouli @Tarak9999 @AlwaysRamCharan @MMKeeravani."

Days before the Golden Globes in 2023, the screening will be attended by SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, and composer MM Keeravani.

RRR, which was hailed for its astounding action sequences and amassed over 1000 crore in worldwide box office revenue during its theatrical run, has been captivating viewers in the west as it has been re-released in theatres across the US as part of the Beyond Fest.

The movie garnered a tremendous reception when it was screened at TCL Chinese Theater in October. The 932 seats at the theatre were sold out in 20 minutes, according to a Deadline story. The movie made $21,000 from the single showing, bringing its total box office revenue since its re-release to $221,156. Twitter was flooded with footage of the audience applauding, dancing in the aisles, and giving director SS Rajamouli a standing ovation after the screening.

The SS Rajamouli film starred Jr, NTR, and, Ram Charan in the lead roles. Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn were seen in extended cameo appearances.
