Richa and Ali Had to Cancel All Marriage Preps, Actress says ‘Was Called Anti-national For Asking When the Lockdown Will End’

After dating for five years, love birds Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal were all set to tie the knot and get married to each other. The preparations were in full swing and their wedding was expected to take place in April in Delhi and was supposed to have many of their overseas friends.

The couple’s spokesperson had issued an official statement that read:

“Given the current scenario and the unfortunate turn of events owing to the COVID-19 pandemic globally, Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha have decided to postpone their wedding functions to the latter half of 2020 tentatively. They wish for everyone to be healthy and safe and at no cost would want their friends, families and well wishers to be affected.”

However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic in the nation and the lockdown, the couple’s April wedding has been postponed. Speaking about the wedding prep Richa told Mumbai Mirror, “Ali and I were organising everything ourselves. The invites were yet to be sent out, but we had finalised other things, which had to be cancelled.”

She adds, “I was called an anti-national on Twitter for asking when the lockdown would end. Now, we will take a call only when normalcy returns."

Due to the lockdown, the love birds have not been able to meet each other and are keeping in touch through video calls. Richa says they would have asked for permission from their respective housing societies, but it would have been a risk. So, they avoided meeting.

However, Richa reveals that Ali and she are used to long-distance and she loves being alone. She is currently under lockdown with her brother, who arrived a few days before the lockdown was imposed. 

The actress has been cooking, working out and meditating to help herself calm down as she shares: “Every time I watched the news, I’d get anxious about the plight of the poor and so started doing charity. I just want to help in any way I can.”

Recently, Richa donated 600 kgs of ration including wheat flour, pulses and rice to a local Gurudwara.
