Review: Forget Superman or Avengers, call 'PAW Patrol: The Mighty Rescue' to save the world

What's amazing about this sequel, especially, is that even if you haven't seen the original film, you won't feel out of sorts.

Next time around, when you're in distress, or the world is in danger with some evil supervillains - don't resort to your supermans, spider-mans or even the Avengers; just give a call to the PAW Patrol - or shall I say, the Mighty Paws. Cooking up a sequel that has the adorable, funny, brave and fantabulous PAW patrol pups having new superpowers, a new challenge in Adventure City and some new entrants to deal with - director Carl Brunker, who also directed the 2021 film (PAW Patrol: The Movie) is here with his team to present another wild ride. Having had the chance to see the film beforehand, here's what I thought about it-

Such a Pawn-tastic Adventure to Continue With

Such a Pawn-tastic Adventure to Continue With

What's amazing about this sequel, especially, is that even if you haven't seen the original film, you won't feel out of sorts. Even as a standalone film, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie offers plenty for the newbies to be invested, laugh, enjoy and just have the best time at the movies. The adorable pups are still the saviours of Adventure City as they continue to support each other and show teamwork like no one else does.

However, a giant meteor comes crashing down on the city, and while it creates some destruction, also has the pups get some amazing superpowers for each of them (not all of them) through little crystals. One can say the protagonist is Skye, as she continues to feel disheartened being the smallest but becomes the first to find the superpower. An evil villain in the form of Victoria Vance and the return of Humdinger act as the giant obstacles that the paw gang is fighting against. In spite of the ambition and outlandishness, PAW Patrol stays true to the emotions to the fullest.

The Beating Heart, Adorability & Humor

The Beating Heart, Adorability & Humor

How can you not have cuteness loaded to scale-breaking levels when you have these adorable pups speaking with innocence, love and friendship as they have no malice but only to save their city and each other as well? In fact, when one of them doesn't get any superpower in spite of getting the crystal, she, while disheartened, doesn't account for jealousy and instead takes upon a new mission that helps them later. That's the kind of messaging PAW Patrol is trying to give. Positivity and love and spreading it to everyone in abundance.

Your heart is filled with nothing but joy and happiness as you watch these lovely pups do incredible and heroic things.

And, of course, the humor. Staying true to the flavor, PAW Patrol offers enough laughs and one-liners to keep you entertained throughout. Most of it comes at the expense of Rubble, who is just the most adorable wisecracking bulldog there can be.

Cohesion and Engaging Storyline

Cohesion and Engaging Storyline

In spite of presenting the factors that are essential to make a film like this appeal to the kids, the storyline isn't taken for granted in any manner. It is a token save-the-world-from-a-supervillain template, but it's done amazingly well enough to keep you actually hooked to the plot developments. You know a crashing meteor isn't going to result in superpowers to talking dogs - but a sense of cohesion is prevalent in the script to make it deep, connecting, and impactful consistently. You'll feel the sorrow, happiness, euphoria and everything else that is intended at the beats that it is intended for.

The Verdict

The Verdict

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie isn't just a fulfilling sequel but a thoroughly entertaining, loving and paw-tastic ride that you cannot miss to be on. Don't be fooled that it's 'just for the kids'; the adults are going to enjoy it as much.
