It was only last week that Vikram Bhatt's  web original, Twisted aired its season finale. We at India-forums.com reported exclusively about his next in the form of Rain, starring Sid Makkar and Priya Banerjee in lead roles.

Yesterday (June 22), the first episode of the series was aired and oh boy! we are impressed. The way it builds up suspense and so effortlessly manages to keep us glued to it until the end is commendable.

Having analyzed the first episode, here's what we think about it!

The Story:

It all starts off with Barkha (Priya Banerjee) waking up at an odd time, post a rather unusual nap that she took. Oblivious to what is happening in the city of Mumbai, she wakes up to realize about her doctor's appointment, which she has missed already.

Apparently, she is on some medication and is rather uncomfortable and restless without it. As she gets ready to give a try to the medication by visiting her doctor, her flatmate stops her, courtesy the deluge outside.

All of this leaves them stuck in their house. Barkha, an ex-criminal lawyer seems to be finding something really fishy about that night; she hears weird voices all around and is highly alert over the smallest of motions.

And, amidst all of this, the doorbell rings. Enter, Abhay - A lawyer whom she knows from the past, and from what it looks, he is someone really close to her.

And just when we think the episode is on its closure, we are introduced to a man chained up in the storeroom, thereby unveiling a rather fierce and intimate side of Barkha.

And there, another mystery begins...

Ratings: 3.5/5

What we liked:

For a web platform, the thriller is commendable. The way the suspense is built, suspicions are bound to rise and also, they'll remain until the end of the episode. The series manages to have the viewers hooked till the end with moments here and there that create fear and at the same time they are nowhere close to being predictable.
Ratings: 4/5

What we did not like:

We wished to get a little more detailed glimpse of the leads Barkha and Abhay. Of how their past was like. Though gradually, we'll know all that is to follow, there seemed to be something missing.

Ratings: 3/5

Performances:

Both Priya and Sid, as the leads are a treat to watch. The former's screen space is seen throughout the first episode and she's convinced the viewers with all her shades.

Sid came in the last few minutes of the series and yet successfully created mystery around his character in that time.

Ratings: 4.5/5

Verdict:

If our verdict was to be based purely on how the first episode made us feel, it has to be anything but disappointing. The kind of buildup that the series had throughout the 23 minutes is commendable. And of course, the direction has to be applauded given the minute details that have been taken care of.

Verdict: 4/5
