Reem Shaikh Opens Up About Parent's Reaction to Her Burned Face Post

Actress Reem Shaikh recently opened up about her parents’ hesitance when she decided to share a picture of her half-burned face on social media. The incident happened during the shoot of Laughter Chefs when hot chashni splashed on her face, leaving it burned on one side. Despite the painful incident, Reem chose to continue shooting and even posted her photo online, which her parents initially opposed.

In a roundtable discussion on Director’s Kut Production’s YouTube channel, written, created, directed, and hosted by Ishika Shahi, and produced by Rajan Shahi, Reem recalled the accident as one of the most significant moments of her life. She shared how her parents were worried about her career, fearing producers might not hire her again after seeing the picture. Samridhii Shukla, who had faced a similar accident during her previous show, praised Reem’s bravery and called her decision to post the photo "powerful."

Reem shared, "My parents told me, 'Producers ne dekh liya, dobara kabhi kaam pe nahi bulayenge' (If producers see it, they won’t call you for work)." She explained that while the injury wasn’t too severe, she felt it was essential to share her journey. Describing the accident, she said, "I was making chashni, and it overheated. It splashed, and the right side of my face was burned."

Reem revealed how she feared her career was over when she first saw her face the next morning with swollen eyes. She thought, "Career is gone, think of something else." However, she quickly found strength, thinking, "If god has made this happen, I have the power to face it."

The healing process surprised Reem, as her wounds disappeared in just 15 days, and her scars are now barely visible after a month and a half. She resumed shooting for Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment the very next week, calling this incident a “life-changing” experience.
