Ranndeep R Rai: People are more curious about an actor’s personal life rather than just their professional ach

Podcasts are trending these days as celebrities are opening up about their personal and professional lives on these platforms, says Anupama actor Ranndeep R Rai. The actor adds that it is important to move with the times and give the audience what they are looking for.

“I feel we have to move with the times. It’s the public demand now—people are more curious about an actor’s personal life rather than just their professional achievements. They want to know what we eat, who we’re dating, how we spend our day. And when too much is revealed, trolling happens, which has also become quite normal these days. Earlier, it used to affect people, but now actors are used to it,” he says.

He adds, “Being vocal definitely has its pros and cons. I think sharing within a limit is healthy, but if something is too personal, I personally won’t share it. Everyone knows their own boundaries and what they’re comfortable revealing.”

Today, almost everything is in the public domain through interviews, podcasts, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, he says, adding, “Earlier, people had to come to Mumbai to earn fame, but today, people can become famous just by sitting at home through social media. Times have changed drastically, and privacy has reduced, for sure.”

He adds, “It’s difficult to hide anything today—social media tracks every move. So, instead of hiding, people choose to announce it themselves. I think that’s why we see so many personal revelations from celebs these days.”

Talking about himself, he says, “I’m not that active on social media, and currently, there’s nothing I would want to reveal or have go viral. But everyone has their own way of managing fame and visibility.”
