Randeep Rai on Balika Vadhu 2: I got a DM with Shivangi and my first photo, and people are really excited

Balika Vadhu 2 will witness the generation leap starting next month and entering the show will be Shivangi Joshi as Anandi, Randeep Rai as Anand and Samriddh Bawa as Jigar. Randeep got talking to India Forums about his return to the show, the prep that goes into it, comparisons, and more. Here's the conversation we had with the actor.

You'll sort of be returning to TV with the show, what prompted you to take up the show?

I think the name of the show, Balika Vadhu is enough and it was such a hit show when season 1 came and when I got to know about season 2, I was very happy and excited about being associated with the show and getting that chance and I gave my 100% in the audition. Now when I am doing the show, I am doing a show after around 2 and a half years given the lockdown, COVID, etc. it is an absolute honor.

Is this the kind of role you were waiting for?

This is a little different role. I always say that no matter how many characters you play, it must be different from the previous one. This is different from what I did earlier,  I will make sure I do my 100% and add my style and flavour and make it a good actor.

Comparisons are bound to happen, are you prepared for it?

Not really. All these things have their own place. If there is a comparison between season 1 and season 2, it had its own place and timing and phase is as well as audience and today, it is all different, so personally or professionally, I don't pay a lot of attention to comparisons.

Fans were left all excited when the news first came, tell us about that?

I got a DM with Shivangi and my first photo, and people are really excited. It happens that when you do a nice show, audiences want the same lead pair and they were hoping for season 2 of Yeh Un Dinon with Ashi, so it also gets difficult but the fans have loved this pair just as much when they first came to know about it. I didn't read any negative comments so far and everyone is really happy.

Do you believe that a cult show like Balika Vadhu has an audience in present day?

Of course, it does.

What is the prep that goes on into the character for you?

I always try that whatever show I do, I don't do a lot of acting and be natural and I will do the same for this character also by trying to be natural 80% of it and mould myself as per the character requirements for the rest.

Are you looking forward to working with Shivangi?

Of course yes, a 100%.
