In the glitzy realm of Bollywood, where relationships and revelations often make headlines, Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about his approach to social media backlash and the criticism he received for a comment he made about his wife, Alia Bhatt's lipstick preference. The actor's candid insights offer a fresh perspective on handling negativity and embracing change in the modern era of showbiz.
The controversy began a couple of months ago when Alia Bhatt disclosed in an interview that her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, wasn't particularly fond of her lipstick choices. This seemingly innocuous statement set social media abuzz, with many quick to label Ranbir as a 'toxic' partner. However, during a live fan interaction, Ranbir Kapoor finally broke his silence on the matter.
Remarkably, Ranbir pointed out that he does not engage with social media at all, which, he acknowledged, is a great relief. He emphasized the importance of negativity and opinions, especially for artists who put their work out into the world. Ranbir elaborated,
"Sometimes a lot of things are written about you as an actor, a lot of opinions are made, which are not necessarily true, and if you take it with a pinch of salt because this image of mine, created by movies, characters, or the media, is something that I don't own."
Reflecting on the articles and discussions surrounding his supposed 'toxic masculinity,' Ranbir acknowledged his support for those fighting against it. He said, "Recently, I was reading some article about being toxic and something relating to some statement I made and I understand this. And I am on the side of the people who are fighting for the toxic masculinity, if they use me as the face of it, it’s fine because their fight is bigger than just me feeling sad about them having an opinion about what I said. I look at a larger picture.”
He graciously accepted being used as a face for this movement, understanding that the battle against toxic masculinity is more significant than any personal feelings.
On the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt continue to make waves with their respective projects. As Alia is set to feature in Vasan Bala's "Jigra," Ranbir will be seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's highly anticipated film, "Animal." The duo, who tied the knot last year, are also proud parents to a daughter named Raha, who is all set to celebrate her first birthday this November.
