"Meghna Malik is like a role model to me"

says Simran Kaur about the lady who inspires her in this industry...

Simran KaurThe talented Simran Kaur who is very well known as Diya of the daily soap Na Aana Iss Des Ladoo and who is currently seen in the show Anamika on Sony TV, shares with TellyBuzz about her journey in this industry, taking up challenges, doing different kinds of role, what is she looking forward to and much more..

Lets have a look on what she said...

How was your journey in this industry?

It was pretty good so far, and a learning experience for me as an actor as I did not take up any acting classes to learn acting. I am so far very satisfied with what I have done, hope it continues to be the same in the future too.

How was it being a part of Na Aana Iss Desh Laado?

It was a great show with a great cast. I got to learn a lot through that show and at the same time I got fame and recognition through it. Na Aana... played a very big part in my acting career. I used to feel very proud of the fact that people recognized me as Diya when I used to go to malls or walk on the street during the time the show was on air. For quite some time even after my show Anamika started, I was still recognized as Diya only and I wanted to get out of that zone and make people know that I am now Anamika. My wish soon turned to reality and now people do call me by Anamika. The character has left a mark on the audience. All thanks to the makers who thought that I would be able to play this role.

Anyone from the show Na Aana Iss Desh Ladoo to whom you are still close too?

Yes there a couple of people to whom I am close too. Meghna Malik who played the role of Ammaji is one fabulous actress, and I have learnt a lot from her. I still call her as Amma and we do catch up often. She is one lady who I look up to and is like a role model to me. So also Madhurjeet Sarghi who played my Taiji and helped me a lot getting into the character and also while rehearsing for my dialogues. My reel sister in that show namely Vaishnavi was also really a fun to be around with.

If Na Aana Iss Des Ladoo comes up with season 2, and is offered to you than would you want to be a part of it?

Well I will be a little bit selfish in this matter, I would love to be a part of this show again if it comes up with season 2 but only if my character is different than what I played as Diya. I don't want to repeat the roles that I have played earlier onscreen. I like doing different things and hence that applies to the roles I take up, too.

How is it being a part of Anamika?

It is a different show and I am enjoying it. Generally I shoot alone so I have bonded really well with behind the screen people who I work with mostly but not that well with my co-actors.

What we heard before was that Anamika will portray a grey shade but what we see now is that the role has turned out to be negative. What have you to say on this?

Well yes, initially I was told that Anamika is a grey character which turned out to be negative later. I am not much happy with it but I am still giving my 100% to the show because I don't find it right to quit the show. Even the makers know that I am not happy with the way my character is shaping.

Simran KaurOut of the shows that you have done, which one was the most memorable so far?

I cannot be biased towards any of the shows I have done so far. All were very memorable as each taught me something new. Naa Asana Iss Des Laado was a learning experience as an actor. Performance wise it was Anamika and also Na Aaana Iss Des Laado while Love Ne Bana Di Jodi came in as a very good opportunity for my acting career.

Which type of character are looking forward to play after Anamika?

I would really want to try my hand at comedy now. It is my wish to get out of my comfort zone and try something different. I am looking forward to do a light-hearted comedy show after Anamika.

Any ongoing show you would want to be a part of?

I do not watch television soaps at all. I have seen the reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa and I would love to be a part of it.

Who inspires you in this industry?

Definitely Meghna Malik and Madhurjeet Sarghi are the two ladies who inspire me in this industry.

Krishma Solanki.
