Priya Banerjee: Baarish is always going to memorable because it's not only a beautiful show but it also gave me such good friends

ALTBalaji- ZEE5 series Baarish 2 which premiered on  6th May received a great response from the fans. Anuj and Gauravi's beautiful chemistry was once again loved by the viewers. We at India Forums got into a conversation with Actress Priya Banerjee who essays the role of Shreya in ALTBalaji-ZEE5 series Baarish 2. She spoke to us about her character, experience, working with Jeetendra Sir and much more. 

Firstly, how was the entire experience and how different was it from season one?

Well, it was a lot more comfortable. It felt like we're actually reuniting with family members because in season one we almost became so close to each other like the directors and the co-actors. It's very rare that you work on a show set or a film set and you right away with click with each and every person. We all just got along like a house on fire. In season one we had a blast, in the end we became such good friends, we were actually looking forward for Baarish season 2. When we heard it's happening, we all got so excited that we will all get to hangout together again and stuff like that. So it was different in that sense, we were very comfortable, it never felt that we are going to work, it just felt that we are going to reunite with a bunch of friends and just chill and all of that. In that way it was such a great experience. I think it is also because of our director Nandita Ma'am who made us so comfortable. It was really good. 

What are the major changes that we'll see in your character in this season?

You will see quite a lot of changes. Shreya's character is very interesting, she kind of reminds me of Pooh from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham but a little more insane. Like she has no idea what she is doing half the time but she is definitely messing up things around her, without realising the after effects of her actions that she does. So it's a very interesting character, she's very funny, you'll never hate her but you will just laugh at her because she is such a clown throughout. She doesn't realise what she is doing and very interesting, it was a lot of fun playing her. I have never played something like Shreya before and for some reason Nandita ma'am just thought that I'll be very good at doing this. It was fun. 

Did you face any challenges as you had to dwell into the character once again?

She is very different from who I am as a person. Other than that, she was quite a fun character to play actually. I'll just go on set and Nandita Ma'am would give me the dialogue and would be like hey this is what she did and this is what she'll do and I would just be like why am I doing this or saying this. And she'll just be like, don't worry about this, that's just who shreya is like. So it was quite an interesting character, most of the time there was not a legit reason for why she is behaving a certain way but it was just how she is. 

How was it shooting with Asha, Sharman and the entire cast?

Like I said in the first season itself we all bonded so well that off sets also we made plans, we went out, we hung out. So we just became such good friends. Baarish for me is always going to memorable because it's not only such a beautiful show but it also gave me such good friends. Like I have created such a special bond with Asha, she's one of my closest friend I speak to and then there's Sharman, there's Nandita ma'am. We've all grown to be such fond of each other as friends. I think for me it's just beyond the show.

We'll also see Jeetendra Sir in this season. So how was it having him around on the sets?

I was completely starstruck because I have seen his work, he's such a legendary Actor. When I found out that he's doing a special cameo and when we met him the first time, I was just like Oh My God, I need a picture with him right now. Because my parents would have been the happiest, they were like oh my god, you're shooting with Jeetendra, it was a big deal. He's so adorable, it was just amazing working with him. I never knew that I'll get an opportunity to work with such a great actor who's been such a huge part of Indian Cinema. It was quite a blessing in that sense. 

Signing off she said, "Honestly, I'll tell everybody to please watch it because first season I never thought that I'll love watching a romantic drama, I'm more interested in thriller stuff. I remember watching Baarish, the first season and I binged watched it. Not because it is my show but because it is such a beautifully done show. It's just really simple and beautiful and you feel like you want to keep watching it. This one is going to be a notch higher because there are more characters, there are more complications but the complications are not like the typical drama complications, they actually make sense. The way it is executed from whatever I've seen, it's looking beautiful and I know for a fact people are going to love it.
