Daily soaps, with their fast-paced nature, become a motivating factor for many actors. Neel Samarthh is no different. The actor who has done shows like ‘Bahu Hamari Rajni Kant’, ‘Waaris’, ‘Kundali Bhagya’, ‘Sapnon Ki Chhalaang’ shares that the routine and discipline that daily soaps bring to life are invaluable.

“It's like a daily challenge that keeps us on our toes, fostering a work ethic that spills over into other aspects of our lives. Personally, the fast-paced nature of daily soaps serves as a constant motivator. I find motivation in the daily challenges. The sheer volume of scenes we tackle in a single day is both exhilarating and demanding. It's not just about memorizing lines but about living the character day in and day out,” he says

This routine, surprisingly, offers a unique kind of discipline that spills over into other aspects of life. “It's a commitment to excellence, a commitment to delivering your best performance, regardless of the challenges posed by time constraints and the demanding schedule. In shows like "Sapno Ki Chhalaang" and "Bahu Hamari Rajni Kant," where I had the opportunity to explore different facets of my acting abilities, the motivation wasn't just external but internal. The fast-paced nature of daily soaps encourages continuous self-discovery. You find yourself pushing boundaries, exploring nuances, and adapting to the ever-evolving storyline. It's a process that fuels passion and ignites a sense of accomplishment. However, it's essential to acknowledge that the intensity of daily soaps can also be physically and mentally demanding. The constant demand for creativity and the pressure to deliver can take a toll. This is where the importance of self-care becomes evident. Maintaining a balance between the demanding work schedule and personal life is crucial. It's a learning process that comes with experience, as no manual or school can adequately prepare you for the unique challenges and rewards of a career in daily soaps,” he adds.

About the one change you feel should be brought in the entertainment industry, he says, “Reflecting on my experiences, I strongly advocate for a significant change in the entertainment industry—a shift toward a more collaborative and inclusive approach to storytelling. Having been a part of various projects, I've come to appreciate the power of diverse perspectives in shaping narratives. In both film and television, the richness of a storyline often arises from the collective efforts of a diverse team. Encouraging fresh voices in scriptwriting, casting, and directing can bring about a more authentic representation of society. This not only enhances the storytelling experience but also opens up new dimensions for exploration. Breaking away from stereotypical narratives is crucial. Embracing stories that reflect the true diversity of our society can lead to more engaging and meaningful content,” he says.

Whether portraying characters in various shades or exploring different genres, the potential for storytelling to challenge norms and provide nuanced perspectives is immense, feels Neel.

“Additionally, there's a noticeable shift toward encouraging natural acting over exaggerated portrayals. The industry is evolving, allowing actors to explore authenticity in their performances. This evolution fosters a deeper connection between the audience and the characters on screen. Moreover, the journey in this industry emphasizes the importance of human qualities. Everyone, from actors to the crew, is on their unique path, battling their own challenges and pursuing dreams they've brought to Mumbai from all corners of the world. In the hustle, it's crucial to remember that kindness and understanding go a long way. Humility is the bridge that connects everyone, making the journey worth every hurdle. As we move forward, this change is not just a requirement but a responsibility. It's about creating an environment where creativity flourishes, and stories are told with depth and sensitivity. The entertainment industry has immense power to shape perceptions, and with a more inclusive approach, we can contribute to a cultural landscape that reflects the richness and complexity of the world we live in, grounded in the values of kindness, understanding, and humility,” he ends.
