BollyCurry is back with a new wave of birthday greetings for an actor whose acting skills are beyond par and who is one of the most celebrated actors today, Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Siddiqui was born in the small town of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. His father was a farmer and he had a big family of nine siblings. After graduating from the National School of Drama, New Delhi, in 1996, Siddiqui spent a few important years of his life struggling in Mumbai. A lesser known fact remains that he made his Bollywood debut with the 1999 hit film Sarfarosh. He also played small roles in movies like Shool (1999) and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003).

A strong path into Bollywood was carved for him with his appearance in renowned director Anurag Kashyap's crime drama Black Friday (2004). However, his claim to fame as an actor came with the role of a journalist in Aamir Khan Productions' satirical comedy Peepli Live (2010). His subsequent appearances in notable movies like Kahaani (2012), Paan Singh Tomar (2012), Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 1 (2012), Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2 (2012), Talaash (2012), Aatma (2013), Bombay Talkies (2013), The Lunchbox (2013), Kick (2014), and Badlapur (2015) among others, successfully made him a household name.

One of the most critically acclaimed actors in Bollywood, Siddiqui is a recipient to many prestigious awards, including the likes of the National Film Award (Special Mention), Zee Cine Awards, Screen Awards, Stradust Awards, Asian Film Awards and the list goes on.

On his birthday, here is a small playlist of songs dedicated to the exceptional actor.

  • He has tried his hand at television without much success.
  • His first lead role was in Prashant Bhargava's Patang (2012), which went on to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival, for which he earned the appreciation of famous film critic, Roger Ebert.
