Mumbai police faces notice after failing to submit enquiry report in Ekta Kapoor complaint

The Mumbai police have been issued a show cause notice by a local court. This action follows their failure to provide an inquiry report related to a complaint against producer Ekta Kapoor. The complaint accuses Kapoor of disrespecting Indian soldiers in one of her web series. The police were expected to submit the report by May 9 but did not meet the deadline, prompting the court to take action.

In 2020, Hindustani Bhau, a social media personality and former Bigg Boss contestant, filed a complaint against Ekta Kapoor, her OTT platform Alt Balaji, and her parents, Shobha Kapoor and Jeetendra. He accused them of disrespecting Indian soldiers in a web series. Hindustani Bhau's complaint specifically criticized a show on Ekta Kapoor’s platform for depicting a military officer engaging in an “illicit sexual act" while he was wearing his uniform.

“The accused have stooped to a cheap low and shamelessly targeted the dignity and pride of our country by depicting Indian Army military uniform in the illicit sexual act with national emblem on it," the complaint said.

Following the directive, the magistrate’s court in Bandra instructed the Khar police in February of this year to investigate the complaint against Kapoor and others under section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Ekta Kapoor has faced previous legal challenges related to content on her streaming platform. In 2024, an FIR was filed against her by Jabalpur BJP MLA Abhilash Pandey, who accused her of depicting “bold content involving children" in the web series Gandii Baat.

In the meantime, Ekta Kapoor is currently working on Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. Smriti Irani will return as Tulsi, and Amar Upadhyay will reprise his role as Mihir in the new season, which is expected to have 150 episodes.

Ekta Kapoor recently posted a video on Instagram showcasing Tulsi and Mihir's journey, featuring memorable moments from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She expressed her gratitude, visibly moved by the memories.
