Monika Khanna opens up on her new look for 'Durga aur Charu'

Monika Khanna has been part of popular shows like Thapki Pyar Ki, Chikoo Ki Mummy Durr Ki, Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek – Arjun and is currently seen in Colors Durga aur Charu playing the character of Latika. The actor is seen in a new look and a different character, which is portraying for the first time.

Talking about her character Monika Khanna spoke to India Forums and revealed more detail about the same, "Well, I belong to the boy's family, and my character's name is Latika. And my character in the show is just how my audience likes to see me. Onscreen, it is a negative character. There are a lot of political issues in this house, and I play the mastermind of the house, the one who will handle these issues. The story is amazing, and the audience has loved the previous seasons. I hope the audience showers the exact same Love on this season too. The story of Durga aur Charu is a period drama which is based in the 1950's and it is going to be portrayed very beautifully for the audience. Please watch the show and shower your Love.'

She even added that "Of course, I have played a lot of grey shades earlier too, but like I said, all those characters were modern. But with Latika, I have gotten the opportunity to play a character that belongs to the 1950s. I will get to Live in an era that did not have any technology; the culture was different, and the clothes were different. Sometimes on sets too, when we're rehearsing our dialogues, we tend to use some English words. However, we have been asked to avoid speaking in English now. We have to take care of this. The way people lived in that era, will beautifully unfold in front of the audience. As I said earlier, my character is based in the 1950s. I, too, will learn a lot from this character about that period. This is a period drama, and I think I'll have to work way harder because it was that era when I did not exist, but I will get to live that era with this character."

Durga Aur Charu recently took a leap; apart from Monika Khanna and Kunal Jaisingh the makers have roped in new faces to proceed with the story. The show Durga aur Charu is a sequel to Barrister Babu, Durga and Charu are Bondita and Anirudh's daughters who got separated in the accident. Both girls were raised by different families, and they finally reunited.
