Monika Khanna opens up on bullying on sets, struggles and beauty stereotypes in the industry

Monika Khanna, who rose to fame with her role as Shraddha in Thapki Pyar Ki is currently seen in Prem Bandhan. The actress has had quite a roller coaster ride as far as her journey up here is concerned and she recently spoke about the same in an interview with The Times of India.

She went on to reveal how she had a great start to her career with Mahi Way in 2018, however, her struggle started after the show when she did not have any work for a year. While she had her ups and downs, she now understands the sturggles of every newcomer in the industry. Monika feels that the journey is important as it enables one to stay grounded. She recalled not having a stove at home to cook or a fridge and so, she drank just black coffee. She revealed further how there are many such instances and how she was once bullied on the sets but she overcame that. None the less, today, she has come a long way and is proud of herself. 

As for bullying on the sets, she recalled how because she did not know the technicalities and did not have anything at home, she used to eat a lot on sets and people would often question her or pass comments like you are becoming fat. She said how she used to cry but did not speak about her situation to anyone as people become judgemental when they don't know the backstory. she feels that one should be kind and extend support to people when we see someone doing something.

She also spoke about the beauty standards that have been set in the industry and how being thin and fair are definitions of beuatiful. She feels it is a sad reality of the society, however, despite that, she also believes that things are changing now.
