Mohan Babu expressed regret to the video journalist he allegedly assaulted during a physical altercation outside his Hyderabad home on Tuesday. The actor claimed that he was only trying to protect himself from “anti-social elements" when the “media got inadvertently intertwined” in the situation.
Mohan Babu tweeted,"Before proceeding, I would like to mention that due to health reasons, I was admitted to the hospital over the last 48 hours and was unable to respond immediately. I appreciate your patience and am sending this letter at the earliest possible opportunity."
He further wrote,"In the heat of the moment, when my gate was broken and approximately 30-50 individuals, comprising anti-social elements, forcibly barged into my house with an intent to harm those present, I lost my composure. Amidst this chaos, the media inadvertently became intertwined in the situation. As I tried to manage the situation, Mr. Ranjith, one of your journalists, unfortunately sustained an injury. This was a deeply regrettable outcome, and I deeply regret the pain and inconvenience caused to him, his family."

After the journalist, aged 35, lodged a report, a case under Section 118 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or substances) of the BNS was previously filed against the actor at the Pahadishareef police station. “Based on the detailed statement of the journalist, the section (in the case) has been altered to section 109 (attempt to murder) of BNS,” a senior police official said.
In his grievance, the journalist mentioned that on December 10, when he went to Mohan Babu's Jalpally home to report on the ongoing disagreement between the actor and his younger son Manoj Manchu, the veteran actor aggressively approached him and other journalists. He purportedly seized the microphone, employed "abusive and foul language," and "attacked" him with it, resulting in a head injury, as per the complainant.
