Star Plus's new show 'Anandibaa aur Emily' is making rounds in public due to its unique 'Saas-Bahu' dynamic, with a star cast of Jazzy Ballerini as the titular character 'Emily', Mishkat Varma as 'Aarav' and Kanchan Gupta in the role of a traditional mother-in-law 'Anandibaa'.
Mishkat Varma is one of the most talented television actors in the industry and he recently opened up about his family's notable experience in Bollywood. His grandfather's company Varma Films were prominent during the first 2 decades after India's independence. The company produced and distributed around 18 films in during their run. Associated with the top artists of the time, the company also had a hand in making 'Patanga' which features the iconic track 'Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon'.
Mishkat Varma on finding out about his grandfather and their Bollywood heritage, "During partition our grandfather came from Sheikhpura in Lahore to Mumbai and settled here. He made films in his time with Bharat Bhushan, Geeta Bali, Begum Para, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and many others. I didn't know much about him either. It was a coincidence that one day when I met Prem Kishan, son of famous actor Premnath, I was also shocked to hear the information he gave me about my grandfather. Many people in the film industry know and respect my grandfather. I feel very proud of him and all the achievements of Varma family."
Mishkat also has a sister, Mihika Varma, who is known for her work in 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein'. Her talents go beyond acting and she won the Miss India International competition in 2004.
