Makar Sankranti, a festival that marks the transition from darkness to light and the beginning of longer days in India, holds a special place in the hearts of many. This sentiment is beautifully captured by Manoj Chandila, who portrays the character of Jarnail in Zee TV’s Ikk Kudi Punjab Di. In a recent statement, he shared his thoughts on the festival and expressed his intention to celebrate it in a unique and delightful way.

According to Chandila, Makar Sankranti is not just a change in seasons but a symbolic journey from darkness to light. The festival is celebrated with the tradition of flying kites, and Chandila provides a fascinating insight into the reason behind this custom. He explains that it is believed that on Makar Sankranti, God wakes up after a six-month slumber, and flying kites is a way of expressing gratitude to the divine. This belief adds a spiritual and joyous dimension to the act of flying kites during this festival.

Talking to India Forums about the same, Manoj said, ''Makar Sankranti marks the start of longer days in India, it also symbolizes the transition from darkness to light. The reason why the festival is celebrated with kites is because it is believed that God wakes up on the day of Makar Sankranti after six months, and kites are a gesture to be grateful to them. And I just love this fun and sweet way of celebrating this festival. In my childhood days, I used to love playing with kites but now we don’t get that kind of time to spend. Hence, I am going to ensure that this year I celebrate the festival on set with my Ikk Kudi Punjab Di cast, I intend to fly kites and bring ‘til ke laddoo’ on set for everyone, after all, we all are a foodie at heart. Happy Makar Sankranti to everyone.''

Manoj Chandila's decision to infuse the joy of kite-flying and traditional sweets into his workplace serves as a reminder that, no matter how busy life gets, there is always room for celebrating our cultural roots and fostering a sense of togetherness.
