Designer Malini Ramani is set to promote the use of safe-drinking water in remote villages across India by making an exclusive range of t-shirts in association with footwear and apparel brand Woodland and the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef).

"A certain amount from the sale of the t-shirts will go in promoting fresh drinking water in villages," Ramani said here.

Ramani's special t-shirts will for go on sale starting March 2013.

"We have tied up with Unicef, which provides clean drinking water to many villages and backward places, where people are not able to get the facility. We have an initiative called Pro Planet, as part of which Malini will design the range of t-shirts in association with Unicef," Harkirat Singh, managing director, Woodland, told IANS.

The cost of the designer t-shirts is yet to be locked, as the team is still shortlisting designs.

Ramani, who has previously designed an exclusive range for footwear brand Bata, made the announcement on the sidelines of a panel discussion arranged by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Ladies Organisation (FLO), here Tuesday.

The session saw eminent women designers like Ritu Beri, Rina Dhaka, Kavita Bhartiya and make-up stylist Ambika Pillai and choreographer Aparna Bahl discussing their views on the business of fashion.
