Malaika Arora calls ‘Gym Looks’ overrated, But Praises Pap Culture

Despite not having done a full-blown film in the last 19 years, Malaika Arora has managed to stay in the limelight. Be it either for her relationship with Arjun Kapoor or her gym looks, the actress often makes headlines.

Talking of her gym looks, Malaika aces the game every time she steps out to sweat it out. She is a fitness freak and also runs a yoga studio. When asked about all the craze around the airport and gym looks, she thinks that the whole concept is hyped up. She said, “It’s overrated, because at the end of the day, I don’t know what is the big brouhaha. The paparazzi, I think are just doing their job. It’s a culture that caught on recently, and they are doing a great job,” quoted Hindustan Times.

The 45-year-old actress also opened up on being slammed for dating a much younger actor, Arjun Kapoor. Reacting to the negative things people say about them as a couple, she said, “You can’t stop people, these are their personal opinions.” She also added, “I think there will always be scrutiny about anything and everything that everybody does. Any celebrity will have that situation. Guess if you are in the business, you have got to get used to it, the whole prospect.”

Besides, talking of Malaika’s professional front, she has been the star of sizzling item numbers like Chhaiya Chhaiya, Anarkali Disco Chali, Munni Badnaam Hui and has appeared in cameo roles in films like Housefull, Happy New Year, Housefull 2 and more. 

Opening up on why she did not bother to do a full-fledged film in the last 19 years, Malaika said, “I have never really been (interested), it’s never been my thing. I have not been drawn towards it, and have always kind of flirted with the whole concept of being in the business, but not actually getting into a full-fledged relationship with it. It’s pretty much how I have looked at it.”
