Mahakumbh has been making waves for its quality ever since the show has launched and it looks like producer/director Arvind Babbal is leaving no stone unturned in making sure that he presents only the best to Indian television audiences.
The current track which shows a library scene has been shot using CG graphics which have never been seen on Indian television before. Everything is shot on a green croma curtain first and then the scene is digitally worked upon in which the background is rendered through 3d graphics while the immediate foreground and surroundings are created to create the most realistic visuals.
The approach to the show has been at par with Hollywood as there is extensive research, pre-visulatization, etc with top end multiple cameras being used to get the best output. While Indian television is constantly slammed for run of the mill rushed content due to telecast issues and deadlines, Mahakumbh is one show which has proved otherwise through such quality. Long hours are spent in brainstorming with the CG team and the actors also have to briefed separately in order to act without actually having something in front of them.
When we asked producer Arvind Babbal about the challenges of CG he says, "Initially I was nervous and hence I took my time in the research and conceptualization. CG scenes are time consuming but the outcome is of a different level and hence we continue to tread on a territory which is unseen on television so far. The feedback from the audiences has been tremendous and we are hoping to keep incorporating new techniques into the show."
