Kumkum Bhagya's Krishna Kaul to be part of Rajshri Productions new show

Television actor Krishna Kaul, best known for his role as Ranbir Kohli in Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya, is set to make a return to the small screen with a new show on DD National. The series is being produced by Sooraj Barjatya’s renowned banner, Rajshri Productions, marking a significant collaboration with Doordarshan after nearly four decades—the two last worked together in 1985 on Paying Guest.

While the female lead for the upcoming show has not yet been finalized, anticipation is building around the project, especially since it comes from a production house celebrated for family dramas and emotionally engaging storytelling. Rajshri has previously delivered hit television series such as Piya Albela, Swabhimaan, Mere Rang Mein Rangne Waali, and Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara.

Additionally, Rajshri Productions is expanding its creative footprint by venturing into the digital space with an OTT debut. Their upcoming web series Bada Naam Karenge, a love story set in a family setting, will stream on SonyLIV starting February 7, 2025. This move signals the production house's intent to engage wider audiences across platforms, while maintaining its core values of family-centric storytelling.

DD National, meanwhile, has been actively refreshing its content to cater to a modern audience. In the past year, the channel launched a diverse slate of shows including Hum To Middle Class Hai Ji, Suron Ka Eklavya Season 2, Fauji 2, Bhed Bharam – Rahasyon Ka Mayajaal, and Kaakbhushundi Ramayan. With Krishna Kaul joining the lineup in a family drama backed by Rajshri, DD National seems poised to attract renewed viewer interest.

This new venture offers viewers the chance to see Krishna Kaul in a fresh avatar, while also signaling a promising revival of classic-style programming on Indian public television.
