Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani will be producing an upcoming project for Hotstar Specials. The upcoming project is a women-centric web-series under his banner, Emmay Entertainment. Gauravv K Chawla, who made his directorial debut with Emmay's Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte starrer Baazaar, will be directing this show set in Rajasthan. According to the sources by a portal, Shekhawati will star Lara Dutta and Kritika Kamra in the leads alongside two more ladies.
"The show revolves around four women living in a joint family and has been titled Shekhawati, derived from the name of a semi-arid historical region located in the north-east part of Rajasthan. It's believed be along the lines of the 2015 Marathi family drama Rajwade & Sons which narrated the story of four cousins who face a perilous journey while trying to follow their family traditions as well as cope with modern times. The shooting for the show has already begun and it is expected to be premiered on Hotstar later this year," an industry source informed.
This will be the second web project for Lara Dutta after Hotstar's 100 while Kritika has previously done Ali Abbas Zafar's Saif Ali Khan-fronted Amazon series Tandav which is yet to release. This show is said to be significantly different from their earlier projects.
Shekhawati is the third web venture from the Nikkhil, Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani-led production company after Amazon Prime's Bombay Diaries and Hotstar's Moghuls, both directed by Nikkhil himself.
