Kareena Kapoor, who is known for breaking the conventions that once held back the women of her lineage from pursuing careers in the film industry. In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Kareena expressed her admiration for her father, Randhir Kapoor, whom she considers "one of the coolest fathers ever."

For the unversed, the Kapoor family, often regarded as the 'first family of Hindi cinema,' boasts a legacy that includes Raj Kapoor, a pioneer of Hindi cinema, and Prithviraj Kapoor, a renowned actor of his era. Historically, it was an unwritten rule that women in the Kapoor clan did not venture into the world of film. None of her aunts, whether by birth or marriage into the Kapoor family, continued their acting careers after marriage. However, Kareena's elder sister, Karisma, shattered these norms, becoming the first Kapoor woman to pursue acting and achieve stardom in her own right.

Reflecting on why Kapoor women were historically absent from the film industry, Kareena attributed it to the different times in which they lived. She noted that during the 1970s, societal norms dictated that married women refrained from working, but she commended her father for adapting to changing times. Kareena stressed the importance of evolving for the sake of one's children, rather than clinging to outdated ideals.

Recalling her sister Karisma's pioneering journey into acting, Kareena acknowledged the challenges Karisma faced as one of the first Kapoor women to enter the profession. However, she underlined her father's consistent support throughout Karisma's career.

She said, "It was difficult during Karisma’s time because she was one of the first Kapoor girls but… not to ever say that my father didn’t support her and not to ever say… Even now, if he calls me and he knows I’m shooting, he will be apologetic that ‘oh no, okay, focus on your work’. He’s extremely cosmopolitan, extremely open-minded, he’s always just been so nice about everything.“ Moreover, Bebo also said that her father was way ahead of his times and called him a “friend and guide.”

On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to grace the screen in Sujoy Ghosh's directorial venture, "Jaane Jaan," alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma. Interestingly, the film is scheduled for release on Netflix on September 21, coinciding with Kareena's 43rd birthday, promising a special treat for her fans on this milestone day.
