Karanvir Sharma: We go the extra mile because the kind of character that I am playing requires intensity

Karanvir Sharma aka Shaurya from Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani has been keeping the fans hooked to the show. While he revealed during an exclusive interview with India Forums that they are in for a treat, a lot is being said about it. And now, as Karanvir shared a video on his social media calling it 'Icesanity', it definitely caught the attention of his fans. 

He got talking to us about the shooting experience if it gets overwhelming when such scenes are shot, and some more. Read his chat with us right here.

How was the experience shooting for this particular scene? 

It was just for effect as the character required a certain kind of mood and cinematically it needed to be kept in a certain way. We saw to it that I was not kept in a lot of ice and the temperature does not change drastically but at the same time, but it takes long hours, and it took me the whole next day to recover from the exhaustion. We go the extra mile because the kind of character that I am playing requires that kind of intensity - physically and emotionally and we did not want to compromise on that. It has never been easy playing the character of Shaurya but that challenge sort of makes me feel alive every single day. 

Did you have to get retakes done? 

There are certain technical issues but mostly the retake happens to capture the right moments at the right time. I never give 100% to my rehearsals and that's what all my directors know about me, I like to conserve my energy during that time and then I go all out in the final take.

Does it often get overwhelming when you shoot such scenes that require extended efforts?

I had a workout sequence before that so the temperature fluctuation happens but then the TV space is such that you don't get downtime and it is very overwhelming. Having an emotional scene added to it, so that time you don't realize it but when you pack up, and you reach back home when my feet are not paining injured, so there have always been situations like that.

What would you say is the process of Karanvir as an actor to prep up and how do you ace the scene?

I always request the director to go for another one if I am not a hundred percent in it. In this show, there hasn't been a single instance where there's been a compromise on my performance. Ask me how I manage it, I have my own process, I still don't understand it 100% - either I play some music or seclude myself from people, somewhere I try to incorporate that kind of energy, that authenticity, where you have to cry, don't use artificial support, but when I have to sweat, those are different. Once I am in the scene, it takes me a minute or two to get into it.
