Kangana Ranaut is among the few actresses, who truly represent grit and determination towards their work. The actress has delivered some of the finest performances in films like Fashion, Queen, Tanu Weds Manu, Manikarnika and more. Post her last outing with Rajkummar Rao in Judgementall Hai Kya, she is now gearing up for one of the most challenging projects of her career: Thalaivi, a biopic on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa.
Kangana is best known for putting her all to embroil in a given character, and she is definitely going the extra mile for this biopic as well. The first poster of the film surprised everyone as she looks unrecognizable in it. Check it out:

In a recent interview with Mid Day, the actress revealed taking hormone pills to gain weight on her thighs and around her belly.
“Vijay (producer) wanted me to resemble her as closely as possible. She [Jayalalithaa] endured a drastic physical transformation in her life. Having grown up as a Bharatanatyam dancer, she had an hour-glass figure. Then, when she joined politics, she had an accident that demanded that she be injected with huge doses of steroids. While we could not depict all of that, we did take measures,” Kangana told the daily.
In addition to the hormone pills, she also started consuming food items that will help her gain weight.
Talking of her looks in the biopic, Kangana had said in an earlier media interaction, “I am very curious about this process, I don’t know how it will impact my expressions and approach to my character but this is going to be one of its kind experience for me."
Directed by AL Vijay, the Jayalalithaa biopic titled Thalaivi, will release in three languages - Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
