"Kalpana's character has lot of shades to portray" - Rachana Parulkar

Pretty Rachana Parulkar who is winning the audiences’ heart through her portrayal of Kalpana in DJ's Creative Unit's popular show Ek Mutthi Aasmaan on Zee TV has been gaining popularity for the character. While she started off her career with side roles, her dream seems to have come true as she is the lead of the show. 

In conversation with us, Rachana talks about how did she bag the show, similarity between herself and more...

Tell us about your journey in TV industry?
I started working in Television with the popular show Saath Phere on Zee TV as a parallel lead in the show, but it was not really my debut as I had shot only for 2 months. Then I did a cameo in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil on Star Plus and finally now I am playing a lead in Ek Mutthi Aasmaan. My journey has been great so far I have learnt a lot from all the shows I did. This show has been as an add-on in the journey of Television as I have got brilliant co-stars and team to work with and my popularity is giving me success because of this show.

What made you sign the show?
It was a lead role and I had brilliant co-stars to work with like Shilpa Shirodkar and Ashish Chowdhry. I found the character very appealing and moreover it was challenging also.

Talking about your role in Ek Mutthi Aasman, how similar are you to Kalpana in real life?
Kalpana is a girl next door. She is someone who doesn’t de value but stands up and she is determined in fulfilling her dream. For me it is quite encouraging to portray this character in the show. Talking about similarity, yes I am very much like Kalpana in real life as even I can't hurt someone and I think 1000 times about what to speak and what not to speak keeping in mind about the near ones. Even Rachana is very ambitious in real life like Kalpana and I value the same.

How is your bonding with your co-stars?
I have a great team to work with, I have cordial relations with my all co-stars and there is no hatred anywhere on the set. Shilpa Shirodkar who is playing my mother's character she is fabulous and I got to learn a lot from her. Talking about Ashish Chowdhry he is a very dear friend of mine. He helps me out whenever I need help on sets; we share a great bond and do lots of fun on the sets while shooting.

Any specific role you want to play in future?
I am very happy to play the character of Kalpana because with this character, I am able to play various shades in one show itself. From Bollywood I would surely love to play Priyanka Chopra's role from Dostana and Deepika Padukone's role that from Cocktail. These characters I feel is very challenging and fun to play.

If not acting then what would you choose?
Definitely dance, even on the set behind the camera I keep dancing randomly as I just love to do it. I am a trained dancer, I have learnt dancing from UMA Dogra who is a brilliant dancer so if not acting would certainly come up with dancing.

Watch Ek Mutthi Aasmaan. I get inspiration to work harder and your support means a lot for me. I can’t assure you about my pairing with Raghav again but something nice is definitely is in store for you.
